Gamma Phi Beta was founded November 11, 1874 at Syracuse University in New York to promote the highest form of womanhood through education, social life and service to our country and humanity. Our founders, Helen M. Dodge, Francis E. Haven, E. Adeline Curtis and Mary A. Bingham started this organization to encourage women to seek their full potential.
Our founders believed in hard-work, dedication and loyalty to each of our sisters. These values are what make the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority the great organization it is today. Gamma Phi Beta has the honor of being the first organization to be called a "sorority" as well as the privilege to have over 160 international chapters.
Gamma Phi Beta offers the opportunity for individual growth through academic excellence, leadership development, philanthropic involvement and social enrichment. Our mission is to foster a nurturing environment that provides women the opportunity to achieve their potential through life-long commitment to intellectual growth, individual worth and service to humanity.
