Gamma Phi Beta wins Sigma Nu’s Valentine 2010 for FOURTH year in a row!!!

| In this annual weeklong philanthropy, we strategized, captured coaches, purchased food, bought gentleman at an auction, attended their basketball game, held a bake sale, bought t-shirts, and gave donations, all benefit the American Heart Association! (and to keep our reign as champions!!) |

Our Sigma Nu Valentine candidate, Lauren Barnes, helped lead us to this victory and was awarded the title at their revealing party on February 25th. Not only were we proud to help our Songfest partners raise so much money, but we are happily anticipating our prize: a home cooked dinner from the gentleman of Sigma Nu!

Gamma Phi Beta wins Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s 4th Annual Miss Minerva Pageant!!!
For the first time ever, Gamma Phi Beta has won SAE’s Miss Minerva pageant! All throughout this past week we have been buying t-shirts, wristbands, and tickets, baking goods, wearing pink all week, and preparing for the main pageant. All of which gathered funds for their philanthropic cause, the Susan G. Komen Foundation. After finishing 1st in points every day throughout the week, we were more than excited to take on the competition in the main event!
The pageant itself consisted of 3 parts: a question and answer segment where Christina Rios and Kaitlin Meisse wowed the judges with their unique, witty, and intelligent answers, a runway segment, where Tiffany Tran and our coach Jason Chou sported beautiful handmade togas in celebration of “Miss Minerva,” and a talent showcase, where Jannet Galdamez and her SAE dance partner Brian Gonzalez danced a enthusiastic and sizzling hot salsa routine that seized the deal and won over the crowd. Judges scored based on creativity, quality of answers, and overall encompassing of “Miss Minerva.”

Tiffany Tran, Jason Chou, Kaitlin Meisse, Spencer Resh, Christina Rios, Brian Gonzalez, Jannet Galdamez (Thank you so much to our coaches!)
Overall it was a super fun week and we were glad to support Sigma Alpha Epsilon’s philanthropy this year! We look forward to many more!

So much Greek Week FUN!!!
Gamma Phi Beta had so much fun participating in this year’s Olympic themed Greek Week with our partners, the gentlemen of Beta Theta Pi! We participated in various events such as an All-Greek BBQ, a tug-of war competition, a can castle building competition, snow sledding in Aldrich Park, a weight lifting competition, a cardboard boat race, and lastly a basketball shoot out competition. The beneficiaries, the Orange County Food Bank received over 400 cans and we were glad to be a part of it. |
To see more pictures from the week’s events, check out the Greek Week folder under the Photo Gallery tab.
